I know some awesome people who run their own businesses here in San Diego and I want to shine a spotlight on them!
Every week or two I will interview and introduce a local entrepreneur who has gained my trust and respect, and might be able to help you!
For my 7th installment, I interviewed Ben Biggs, the realtor who helped us buy our home! Ben works with a team of realtors out of a swanky downtown building and together his team offers one of the best experiences in home-buying available in San Diego. Ben has extensive experience and market knowledge, and was able to help us find, successfully negotiate and close on the first home we’ve owned. He was not afraid to tell us the good and the bad news throughout the entire process, and gave us some hard advice when needed. If you’re looking to buy a home, I highly recommend talking to Ben.

Here is a transcript of our conversation:
Hey, this is Jon at PaintGreen, continuing in my series of introducing my community to other awesome entrepreneurs and business owners. I have Ben Biggs with me today. Ben Biggs is a realtor here in San Diego. He helped me by our home and we had a great experience working with you, Ben. So I just wanted to share the wealth of Ben with all of my community here. So Ben, I’ve got some questions for you.
Great. Let’s do it.
What got you into the real estate business?
You know, I really love working with people and I love business. I had some businesses back in Denver back in 2008 and I think we all know happened in 2007, 2008-
Yeah.
…and I ended up joining, I was very young at the time, and I ended up joining the military and when I got out, I said, “I want to jump back into business.” I landed on real estate as well for an investing and so I said, “Let me combine those two, my love of helping people and my love of real estate and business,” and the realtor choice just made a lot of sense.
Right on. Well, thank you for your service-
Thank you.
… in the military and I’m glad that you got back in your real estate. How has everything been going so far?
It’s been going great. I’ve got a nice little practice here in San Diego, been practicing it for a number of years now, and I’ve had a lot of success in my own right and I’ve been able to build a nice little sustainable business here where I’ve been able to consistently help quite a few people every year. It’s been great, so no complaints.
Cool.
Yeah.
What do you like most about helping people buy their home?
There’s a lot of facets to buying a piece of real estate, but my favorite piece of the whole process is after all that work is done, showing, we’ve seen all these properties, we’ve got them preapproved, got them all teed up, and we finally find them one and we offer and I can call them and say, “Hey Jon, congratulations. They’re going to take your offer.”
Nice.
Yeah.
Yeah. I remember getting that call.
Yeah.
I felt like I was on cloud nine, you know?
I like that part even better than hand, I love handing over keys, but my favorite part is saying, “Hey guys? We’re doing this.”
Yeah.
I think that’s my favorite part, even more than closing, everything. I love that part.
Yeah. Right on. Now, do you work alone or part of a team?
I’m on a big team. So I’m actually a co-founder of the team that I’m on. I was the first agent that Jeff Disher brought on as a teammate, so we co-founded together. We have about 15 agents now here in San Diego, we’re The Disher Group, so I’ve got a great team and we do a ton of research and planning all around the market to stay sharp and everything.
So you’re not just a solo cowboy out there figuring things out on your own, you’ve got entire team around you?
I am my own agent. All agents are 1099 independent business owners.
Okay.
But you can see The Disher Group, it’s kind of like a mastermind, so I’ve got a ton of help, a lot of people around me.
Cool. What are your future plans and goals in your real estate career?
I want to continue to grow. I think any productive person in their life should always seek growth. Growth is very important to me, so ultimately, I’d like to get to a place where I can double my best year. My best year in my business volume wise was 2020. If I can get to a place where I can have double that, would be my, I think, a great sweet spot because I know I can do more. It’s not even about the money or it’s not even about showing off or beating or winning. It’s more about, I know what I can do and I know I can be the best version of myself.
Yeah. Right on. Well, Ben Biggs, everybody. Like I said, we had a great experience working with Ben and I highly recommend that you talk with him if you are looking for either a investment property or looking to purchase your first home or just another home.
Yep. Absolutely. I’m absolutely here to help, guys. We’d love to.
Great. Thanks, Ben.
Thank you, Jon. I appreciate it.
